Crosscube Challenges

Camp Holland Mali

Crosscube connects. Durability with safety.

The Dutch Department of Defense wanted to build camps for their troops in the countries where the Netherlands has an active presence. Mali is one such example of a country where the Department of Defense has and will continue to have a long-standing presence to support and protect the country and its people.

The Department of Defense wanted to build a robust camp, which they refer to as Camp Holland where its troops could reside and work under special local conditions. The client required a fast, simple installation, cost-efficient transport and an installation that could withstand local weather conditions.

Access chamber solution

Crosscube recommended a total solution including access chambers / inspection chambers, installation and transport that matched the specific wishes of the client. Above all, this advice meant providing personal guidance to the engineers on the project.

Crosscube supplied all the materials for the underground cables and pipelines infrastructure, including rigid and flexible HDPE pipes, various fittings and access chambers. Due to the modular construction, good could be transported in compact packaging. This resulted in lower costs due to the ability to pack the modules compactly onto pallets without having to account for the transportation of ‘empty space.’ Additionally, the access chambers (top parts + covers) needed to be resistant to local conditions such as strong desert winds. Crosscube Type 3 fit the bill and can be easily disassembled if the situation required.

Crosscube collaborated closely with the engineers (on the customer’s team), and worked in close cooperation with their regular partners to deliver everything complete and well-packed for timely transport. Behind the scenes, coordination took place between the manufacturer of the Crosscube parts, the manufacturer of the covers, and the logistics partner. This solid teamwork was positively reflected in the results of the project.

Result

A well-functioning infrastructure that helped the troops carry out their mission(s) safely and successfully.
