Crosscube Challenges

Angled covers

A clever example of customisation squared. In the near-future, the Rijnland Route will connect the Dutch A4 with the A44 highways, relieving traffic around the city of Leiden in 2022. The new route will include a tunnel of 2.5 km and a deepened tank of 1,100 metres. A total of 160 access chambers must be installed to make this possible, while also paying attention to other specific wishes that will be included in the route.

You ask, we …

Crosscube likes to collaborate closely with clients. This ensures that we deeply understand our clients’ needs. A good example of this is the cooperation with the international contractor consortium COMOL5, which also includes Croonwolter & Dros. We were asked to contribute ideas about the flow of cables and pipes in the tunnel. According to chief contractor Bertus Kornet, “When more complicated requests are made, the box-sliders quickly drop out. Crosscube thinks along with us, so together we were able to devise a customised solution for this.” In short: you ask, we develop.

Angled covers

An example… The collaboration revealed that there was a need for access chambers with sloping covers. In case of rainfall, these will lead dirty water in the right direction, towards the drain. We have already taken such issues into account when developing our access chamber system. We then also took new requirements and wishes from this project into account in further development of our system, thereby making these innovations accessible to other customers as well. In this respect, our access chamber system never stops learning.
